The Dress Up

Video | Valentines Craft Ideas & Live On Tv In The USA

We love Valentine’s Day (it’s probably not that hard to tell…). We love kids dressed up in formal wear even more; so you can imagine our delight when we had an opportunity to mix the two into one incredibly cute crafts day!

Kusi News, San Diego’s local news station, featured an adorable mix of things we absolutely love on the 7th of February LIVE on TV! We seem to be on the big screen a lot nowadays... With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, a bunch of children from San Diego were up bright and early at 6:22AM getting prepared for the big day.

In this cute feature, the kids were taking part in a crafts day that is, of course, love themed. The kids are making string hearts with four simple ingredients (find out how to make the heart at the bottom of this post).

We love how the reporters can’t take their eyes off the sharply dressed young ones, but to be fair, neither can we. “Look at his little tie!”  – a phrase we hear weekly in our office, and for good reason. Although we’re so used to it, the look of a little man dressed better than most of us usually are is definitely a sight to behold. The girls looked just as gorgeous in Paisley of London’s iconic dresses. Check out the video to see exactly what we mean!

How to make the string heart;

You will need;

A block of wood
Nails
String or wool
Hammer (to be used by an adult!)

How to make the heart:

1) Print out a heart that will fit on the block of wood that you have.

2) Draw around the edge of the heart on the block of wood.

3) With adult supervision; carefully hammer the nails into the wood on the outline of the heart you drew at roughly 1" intervals.

4) Finally, wrap the string around the nails. Choose one to start then keep looping around roughly the opposite site until the heart is entirely filled in!

And voila; you should have a perfectly crafted string heart that makes for an amazing Valentines gift! Want more craft ideas?
